Veritrel compiles risk information, principally official sanctions lists, so that regulated organisations and the software they use can meet their legal obligations. This page explains where that information comes from and what you can do if you have a question about a record.
1. Where the data comes from
Our sanctions data is collected directly from the official publications of the authorities that maintain the lists, including:
- United Nations Security Council: Consolidated List
- U.S. Department of the Treasury, OFAC: Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List, and the Consolidated Sanctions List
- European Union: Consolidated list of persons, groups and entities subject to EU financial sanctions
- United Kingdom, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office: UK Sanctions List
- United Arab Emirates, Executive Office for Control and Non-Proliferation: Local Terrorist List
- Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: National terrorism designations
The full list of sources in our coverage programme is published on theCoverage page.
We reproduce what these authorities publish. We do not decide who is listed, and we do not add allegations of our own. Every record keeps a reference to its official source and to when it was published or changed. Other categories of information described on this website will follow the same principles: authoritative sources, citations, and human review before anything sensitive is published.
2. How we keep it accurate
- Each publication is checked for completeness and consistency before it is used, and unexpected changes are held for review rather than published.
- Records are linked to the same person or organisation only on firm evidence, such as a shared official identifier, never on a name alone.
- When an authority removes a listing, the record is marked as withdrawn and that change is delivered to our clients.
- Sensitive decisions are made or reviewed by trained staff.
3. If you have a question about a record
If you believe that a record in Veritrel does not accurately reflect the official publication, for example because of a transcription error, or because an authority has since removed or changed a listing, please write to data@veritrel.com with:
- your name and how we can contact you;
- enough detail to identify the record concerned;
- what you believe is inaccurate, and any supporting official reference.
We will check the record against the official source. If it does not match, we will correct it and deliver the correction to our clients. We may need to verify your identity, and we will let you know the outcome.
4. If you want to be removed from an official list
Veritrel cannot change an official listing. Only the authority that published it can do so, through its own review or delisting procedure. Once an authority removes a listing,Veritrel reflects that change.
5. Your rights
Your rights in relation to personal data, and how we handle requests, are described in ourPrivacy Policy. Some rights may be limited where the law permits, for example for information that is publicly available or that organisations use to comply with legal obligations; where that is the case, we will explain why.
